“In its glorious, yet unfortunately more elusive, display beneath the sea, this vivifying and effervescent color mesmerizes the eye and mind. Lying at the center of our naturally vivid and chromatic ecosystem, Pantone Living Coral is evocative of how coral reefs provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope of color.”
This is how Pantone describes the colour of the year – Living Coral. For us, it’s one of the most distinctive yet diverse colours. That’s why we decided to have some fun with it in an OYOxDesign home in New Delhi.
As you enter this vibrant home, you will notice how multiple colours work in harmony here. To accentuate coral in the living room, the OYOxDesign team used a strikingly different colour as a background. While the contrast is there for all to see, it’s also obvious how well these colours complement each other.
Converted into an OYOxDesign home in 15 days, this 6 BHK house in Delhi is testament to how a complete design transformation can be achieved within a tight, limited budget and time span. The team also stayed true to OYOxDesign’s commitment towards recycling, upcycling and local sourcing as much as possible. The owner’s old furniture and light fixtures were retained and refurbished to create pieces which suit the theme.
The frames on the walls, which are an essential part of the aesthetic in this house, were second hand and bought at reduced prices locally.
The six bedrooms in this house have their own, distinct charm. With ample seating area and large, open spaces, you can really feel the grandeur of this house. In the morning, the sun lights up the colours on the walls and brightens up the rooms to make for the most cheerful wake-up call you would’ve ever gotten.
The design thought in the intimate yet spacious bedrooms was about bringing the old and new together. While a lot of the space has been utilised, the openness of this house will remind you of the ancient havelis that our grandparents talk about. But that doesn’t mean that the facilities are of that era too. The modern amenities and decor here blend in well with the vibe of this house.
The vintage look of the furniture and decor here will remind you of the old English style of living. The floral drapes and cozy settings will have you thinking of a rustic, old school fireplace, even in Delhi.
While this home is perfect for those travelling in large groups, the thought of constantly being around people can be daunting. So we made an intimate, comfortable corner in one of the rooms. This sunny spot in one of the bedrooms is the perfect place to be in when you want to be alone with a book or catching up on your favourite TV show.
Staying in this part of Delhi, you will never be too far from anything. The bustling suburb of Noida, with DLF Mall Of India and a large shopping district, is only 10 kms away from here. You can also visit an amusement park located behind one of the most popular malls in Delhi NCR. Other shopping areas, major malls and markets are also 10 to 15 kms away from this home.
Apart from shopping, you can also visit some of the legendary historic sites in Delhi. From Qutub Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, to the Red Fort and a lot more, there is a lot to see in the national capital.
