Description
Originally home to the Arnott family. OYO Kirkconnel Hall dates as far back as the 15th century, providing the property with great historic interest.
It was home to Napoleon's physician, Dr. Archibald Arnott, in the late 18th Century and although extended in the 1870's and again more recently, it retains much of its period charm. OYO Kirkconnel Hall has extensive gardens and grounds extending to approximately 3.75 acres and to the rear there are areas of lawn, and grounds which have a range of mature trees and shrubs. OYO Kirkconnel Hall Hotel has a highly visible location adjacent to junction 19 of the A74M on the edge of the country village of Ecclecfechan. It is only 8 miles north of Gretna and is well located in an area of south west Scotland popular for both short breaks, weddings, functions and business conferences. We are about 18 miles from Carlisle and Dumfries. All round there are plenty of activities to be had with the likes of fishing, golf, shooting, beautiful walks and cycling routes. The hotel has ample FREE car parking, FREE Wi-Fi connectivity, bar, lounge, restaurant and extensive and well planned conferencing facilities. Recently acquired by its present owners, OYO Kirkconnel Hall is now a family owned and run business and we look forward to welcoming you and hope that you have an enjoyable stay with us. The Hotel also has its own hard standing caravan site which offers 5 fully functioning touring caravan pitches which are set within our beautiful grounds.

It’s good value for money. The couple running the hotel went out their way for us, which was greatly appreciated. There aren’t places on the door step to eat but the owner helped us order food from a nearby Lockerbie takeaway which when delivered we enjoyed in the bar. Their bar has a good selection of bottled beers/ales & spirits. The main parts of the hotel are the opposite of a minimalist travel lodge. If you love looking around antique or vintage stores, this hotel will be of particular interest. The hoteliers are clearly winding down, as the hotel no longer caters for large events as it did in the past, but offers a good B&B service. The owner John is warm, but straight-talking which we appreciated. (Their family dog is completely adorable). The owners wife, was so helpful when we turned up soaked to the skin from cycling in a downpour, making sure we got our things dried out and they happily stored our bikes. It’s these kindnesses that make you feel like a ‘guest’ as opposed to a customer. The house has an interesting past, and has some really wonderful features. It’s probably in need of some repair (as all these older building are) but that adds to the character. Our room was spotless with a comfy bed. Kirkconnel Hall is close to main roads so inevitably there is some road noise, our windows were double glazed which lessens this. The road itself is completely screened by all the mature trees surrounding the garden grounds, which dampens the sound. If your preference is a very modern Scandinavian style hotel - then this might not be the hotel for you, but I think a great deal of people will be absolutely charmed by what the owners offer, which feels like an ‘experience’ rather than just a place to rest your head. .

Really lovely people at this Hotel! Marjorie and John looked after me for the past 2 weeks and have been great. Anything I’ve needed I’ve just had to ask and the best thing is they’re so genuine. Loved my stay and loved the hotel would definitely recommend. Breakfast has a lovely range of food and drinks too and anything you want you can just ask and they’ll provide it. Will definitely be visiting again. The rooms and beds were cosy too! Proper grateful for everything!
