For being literally the cheapest hotel in the Aberdeen area I can't really complain, but you're definitely getting what you pay for. We changed our holiday destination last minute and this was the cheapest place I found. Once I read the reviews I started being afraid I'd booked me and my dad into a dusty hellhole, but once we actually got here it turned out to be mostly fine. Though all the old Holiday Inn signage and branding is confusing, the bed is comfy, we can open the window, the room and bathroom are clean and tidy. The area is a bit out of the way but there are decent public transport links to the city centre. There is a huge modern church nearby with what looks like a decent cafe, but it opens late on weekends. Overall fine for the literal cheapest hotel in town, but if you have the money for the holiday I'd probably recommend forking out a little extra for somewhere in a slightly less rundown area closer to town.
Some may be put off by the generally low ratings on sites like TripAdvisor, however we had a nice stay. Cleanliness not an issue at all, the rooms were not in the best shape but very much acceptable given that this is essentially the cheapest thing in and around Aberdeen. Being located in an ex-holiday inn express building the room design and practicality are good. The air conditioning was not working and that seemed to be the case for the whole building, so it was quite hot and stuffy during the night. The location is fine, adjacent to a bus corridor and a park and ride. The breakfast offering is good, with a wide variety of options for whatever takes your fancy. Bathroom cleanliness was mediocre but acceptable. Overall decent stay, would recommend for a budget-concious traveller but for those willing to pay more there definitely are better options out there. Still though, great value for money.
