(Translated by Google) Upon our arrival at 1:10 p.m., a very friendly Canadian greeted us at the reception desk, where there was also a water dispenser and a snack machine, and told us we could already check into our room (we hadn't booked early check-in). Our room was spacious and even had a bathtub. In addition to coffee and black tea, chamomile and peppermint tea were also available on the hospitality tray. The room was very clean. There was plenty of storage space around the bathroom. Since we didn't have any glasses in the room, I went to the reception desk and asked for some. The receptionist gave me two glasses without hesitation. Then we walked into town, where we arrived at the cathedral after about five minutes. For breakfast the next day, there were egg dishes (except scrambled eggs) made to order in various ways, as well as a selection of fresh fruit and several sweet pastries. Various coffee preparations were available at the coffee machine.
My wife and I had a lovely stay here while attending a show at the university in Exeter. The location is fantastic, right across from the central train station, just a quick 2-minute stroll into town, and a pleasant 25-minute walk to the venue. The hotel has a charming, historic vibe, though it could benefit from some updates, especially regarding the placement of plug sockets for charging devices. We noticed the TV was missing some channels, and the WiFi speed was a bit slow at only 3-5Mbps, which are minor points but worth mentioning in today’s tech-savvy world. Our room was stunning, featuring a beautiful four-poster bed, but we found it a bit firm for our liking. It might just be a matter of personal preference, but we could feel the springs, and the frame creaked whenever we moved, which made for a less than restful night. Being centrally located, the hotel does experience some street noise, especially on a Friday night, but we anticipated that since our room faced the street. The hotel offers a car park for £12.50 overnight, which is convenient, and there are other parking options nearby, but having it on-site felt reassuring. Despite these little quirks, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, the common areas were delightful, the breakfast was delicious, and the location couldn't be better.
