Edinburgh Central Mosque is a mosque and Islamic centre designed by Dr Basil Al Bayati. Located on Potterrow, this beautiful structure took over six years to complete. It combines the architectural styles of Islamic and Turkish traditions with the Baronial style of the Scots.
The main hall has a capacity for one thousand worshippers and a balcony overlooking the hall. Worshippers can also access a Wudu area, a library, and avail paid car parking facilities.
As an important community hub and cultural centre, the mosque offers a range of classes and workshops. People of all faiths are welcome to visit for information or questions on Islam, or for a pre-booked ‘Ask the Imam’ session.
Magnum Restaurant and Bar serves local Scottish produce and seafood. Erbil Kurdish & Middle Eastern Restaurant is good for authentic falafels, lamb borek, and baly mrishk.
