We are cognizant of the aftermath caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and as a conscious hospitality chain taking several measures to help mitigate its effect. We value the immense contribution of our front line heroes who have been at the forefront fighting the war against this pandemic. On the occasion of Independence Day, we pledge to continue supporting the quarantine, self-isolation & accommodation requirements of such front-line workers and corporates under our ‘OYO Care’ initiative. We are happy to share that we have partnered with 24+ State Ministries, 50+ hospitals and local authorities and are offering some of our properties for pay per use quarantines, self-isolation facilities at affordable prices to minimise the possibility of infection and maximise social distancing and hygiene.
As part of the ‘OYO Care’ initiative, we are in touch with 50+ government and private hospitals to provide accommodation support to medical first responders at affordable prices. These efforts are in line with the advisories by WHO for doctors and paramedical staff treating COVID-19 patients to be isolated after their routine duties. Under the same initiative, we have already provided 100K room nights in the past four months. The hospitals which have been supported by OYO include – Safdarjung Hospital, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Sakra Hospital. Our long term rental business; OYO Life is also working closely with multiple hospitals by extending support in offering long-term stays to nurses and healthcare professionals. We have also provided last-mile accommodation support to 500+ corporates including Ericsson, L&T, Omega Healthcare in July itself.
Commenting on the development, Rohit Kapoor, Chief Executive Officer, India & South Asia, OYO said, “This Independence Day, I would like to laud the combined efforts of the government, India Inc and the citizens of the country who have contributed in the fight against the virus. We, at OYO pledge, to continue supporting the nation with our resources, in every way possible, especially our front-line workers. Despite the uncertainty and restrictions as a result of COVID-19, it amazes me to share how the teams at OYO have come together, brainstormed and refocused our energies to help as many people as possible. Be it through our outreach to state governments, diplomatic missions, corporates and NGOs by offering self-isolation and quarantine facilities, or even free stays to first responders at select OYO Townhouse as part of our ‘OYO Care’ initiative – we are are doing our best to fight this pandemic together. We are extremely grateful to our asset partners who have joined hands with us to cater to the growing needs of healthcare and the frontline workforce and are committed to providing a safe and comfortable stay to all our guests.”
Commenting on the services offered by OYO, Bhawna Chauhan, Nursing officer from Kalawati Saran Children’s Hospital said, “We have set-up isolation wards in the hospital to treat COVID-19 patients. The doctors, nurses and paramedical staff deployed in the isolation wards are given accommodation at OYO tie-up hotels for self-isolation. The hospitality chain is providing us with food and taking care of all our day-to-day requirements making sure of a stress-free living experience during these challenging times. We are thankful for OYO to come forward to support us so that we could focus on caring for our patients without worrying about anything else.”
OYO’s asset owner, Mangesh, OYO Hotel Champion Inn, Bangalore said, “We are very grateful and thankful for OYO to generate demand and serve quarantine guests. The company helped us in securing relevant permissions. We’re witnessing an increase in demand even during this tough time. OYO along with the hospitals helped us to prepare and follow SOPs laid out to serve the guests. We applied thermal testing, deep cleaning techniques, wearing protective gear including masks, PPE Kits and used disposable cutlery to serve the guests in a safe and hygienic environment.”
As we collectively deal with the situation at hand we would like to reassure that we are taking the necessary precautions along with the support of our asset partners to extend a safe, secure and comfortable experience to all our guests. We have also facilitated accommodation support to international tourists, repatriated Indians as part of ‘Vande Bharat Mission’ and engaged with multiple foreign embassies and diplomatic missions in India. OYO employees are committed to adapt and retool with a new operating model focussed around safety & hygiene as part of its ‘Sanitised Stays’ initiative.
