For decades, Kerala Kalandalam was considered the world’s most famous school of Kathakali. Located in Cheruturithi, this historic art school was founded by Vallathol Narayana Menon, a renowned Malayalam poet. Kalandalam, which started functioning under the governments of Kochi and Kerala, is now managed by the Ministry of Culture, Government of Kerala.
Kathakali, Mohiniyattom, Kutiyattam, Thulal, Chutti, Chamayam, Mrudangam, Mijavu, Carnatic music, Kerala instrumental music, and other significant subjects are taught. In addition, Kalandalam has troops who perform. Seeing concerts in these holy places is an enthralling experience.
