The panoramic region in the valley has many hot water springs and is a famous tourist attraction. The sacred Yarab Tso Lake lies at the entrance to the village.

Pangong Lake

Pangong Lake is located at a height of 4350 metres above sea level. It is an open lake and extends from India to Tibet. The lake is 120 kilometres in length and 5 kilometres in width at the broadest point. Even though almost 60% of the lake lies in Tibet, the Indian counterpart is equally beautiful and offers a mesmerizing view to the tourists. Ladakh in winter season is mesmerizing, the lake freezes completely in spite of holding saline water.

During the sunset and the sunrise, the lake is immensely beautiful and is a breathtaking site. The serene lake water changes its colour at different times of the day. Zanskar valley is located 235 kilometres away from the historical battlefield of Kargil. It is situated in the Ladakh region of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and lies over the Pensi La across the Suru valley.

The Zanskar River is a tributary of the Indus. Zanskar literally means ‘Copper star’. It is so named because the different rivers flowing into it carries sediments of copper.

Nubra Pangong Lake Tour

The route from Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake has become increasingly popular with tourists nowadays. This is especially popular among visitors who are on a short trip to Ladakh. There are two different routes to travel to Pangong Tso from Nubra valley. The first one is through the Agham Shyok village road. It does not involve climbing to high altitude or steep slopes and the journey lasts about 4 to5 hours. However, the journey is still very risky, difficult and dangerous for the normal traveler. The second route is longer and takes almost 8 to 10 hours. It runs through two passes on very high altitudes- The Wari La and Chang La.
