Some Amazing Places To Visit In Navi Mumbai During Your Stay

Navi Mumbai is a planned city, built in the reflection of Mumbai and is considered its twin city. It was developed to relieve the city of Mumbai from it’s over population and demands of growing infrastructure and is located in the east coast of Thane. New Bombay, as it was formerly known, is connected to Mumbai through various routes and a large population travels to and fro with the help of local trains, buses and via ferry service. If you ever visit this part of the city, there are some of the places to visit in Navi Mumbai you must definitely visit to realize how beautiful and planned this part of the city is.

1. Central Park

The Park was inaugurated in 2010 and since then is a favorite haunt of the people of the city. It is a very peaceful place and morning walkers and fitness enthusiasts come here in huge numbers. There is a 1.5 km walking and jogging track for the purpose as well as a botanical garden which has an amazing display of flowers. There is also an open air- amphitheater here which is used for multiple functions and events.

2. Wonders Park

The Wonders Park has clearly the most visited of all the parks in Navi Mumbai and it is predominantly because of the replica of the Seven Wonders of the World located here. Children love to play here because of the swings and rides while families come here frequently for picnics or to take photographs with the monuments. There is an artificial lake here with seating arrangement around it and it can get quite crowded towards the evening.

3. Pandavkada Falls

This beautiful Falls is located right outside Khargar and the water falls from a height of 107 meters. Because of the immense speed of the water, rock formations have been carved out below the falls which are splendid to look at. It is said that the Falls gets its name because the Pandavas took a bath here while they were in exile. Trekkers and history buffs come here to enjoy the beauty and take in the lore associated with the place.

4. Karnala Bird Sanctuary

The Karnala Bird Sanctuary is a delight for anyone who loves birds and just wants to soak in the beauty of nature. Stretched for across 500 square kilometers, this is the perfect place to watch the migratory birds during the months of November to February. The sanctuary is home to over 150 species of birds and there are many trails within the park which the trekkers love to explore, the trek usually ending in the Karnala Fort from where one can get a breathtaking view of the sanctuary spread out below. It is one of the best tourist places in Navi Mumbai.

5. Belapur Mango Garden

Love mangoes? Then you just cannot afford to miss this place. The park exclusively grows mangoes and you will find every variety of the fruit here. With special techniques, mangoes are grown throughout the year in this park although it happens to be a summer fruit. There is also a children’s park inside the premises and a small pond where you can see ducks frolicking.

6. Belapur Fort

You must visit the Belapur Fort just outside Navi Mumbai and you will not find a more striking trekking route in the vicinity. The fort is steeped in local history which the guides will tell you about. It was built by the Siddis of Janjira and was mainly a lookout fort. Later, when a different route was discovered to the city during the British era, the fort fell from prominence. The fort is largely in ruins now, but is covered in greenery from all sides and it offers a stunning view of the surrounding landscape.

Driving Routes: Navi Mumbai happens to have some of the most beautiful driving routes here because the city is so well planned and the roads are so well maintained. If you want to go for a long drive, then below are some of the routes where you need to be:

7.Palm Beach Marg

Located in one of the most upscale parts of Navi Mumbai, this is a six lane road which connects Vashi and Belapur. It is a 10 km stretch and you will find wonderful scenes to gaze on as you drive past. There is so much greenery around, as well as the high end homes which line the roads here.

8. Rain Tree Marg

If you love monsoons and greenery, then this part of Navi Mumbai will offer you both. After the monsoons, the region is covered in greenery and it is a picture perfect scene to set your eyes on. Bikers and motorists frequent the roads here, there destination being the nearby Khargar Hills from where one can catch a glimpse of the beautiful scenery around. It takes about 15 mins to get to the top. It is one of the best places to visit near Navi Mumbai.

9. DY Patil Stadium

The DY Patil Sports stadium is a very popular cricket and football stadium and many significant matches have been played here since the stadium was inaugurated in 2008. A number of concerts are also organized here and the stadium has a capacity to hold 55,000 people. Many international concerts are held here as well, and the artists are truly enthralled by the crowds.

On first hearing about it, it will indeed sound like a very uninteresting place to visit but is a must visit because of the amazing modern architecture of the building and also because of some of the tallest flagpoles of the country being situated here. 11. CIDCO Golf Course

The City and Industrial Development Corporation, which is also known as CIDCO has a beautiful golf course which stretches over 103 acres and will have 18 golf holes. It also has Play as you Pay model and hence no membership is required. Only INR 500 is needed if you want to play here.

12. Utsav Chowk

This wonderful location is actually a landmark for the residents here and the area has been built according to Greek and Roman cultures. The city space is mesmerizing to look at and many people come to see the decorations here when it is lighted up during festivals.

13. Nhava Sheva Port

This port is now the largest port in India and also handles about 50% of the state’s port traffic as well. It is located right beside Mumbai and hence enjoys a strategic location as well. Major import and export items are unloaded here and taken to different parts of India. It is quite a sight to come here and see the massive ships being docked and unloaded with the use of heavy machinery.

14. Airoli Knowledge Park

15. ISKCON Temple

The ISKCON temple at Navi Mumbai started operating from 2012 and focuses on the teachings of Lord Krishna and the Bhagvad Gita. There is also a center for Vedic education and cultural teachings and the people of the community are much benefitted that way. The temple itself is surrounded by beautiful Western Ghats on all sides and it is a great place to experience spiritual rejuvenation. The temple complex is spread across 8 acres and free meals are given to the underprivileged on certain days.

16.Nerul Balaji Temple

This architecture of this temple has been inspired by the South Indian temple in Kerala and the temple is also dedicated to Lord Balaji. The people of the South Indian community come here frequently and there are also shrines dedicated to Lord Narsimha, Lord Ganesh and Lord Vishwaksena. People from other parts of the state can also come here easily because it is located right beside the Nerul station.

17. Bawkhaleshwar Temple

The temple is not easily discernable but once you are there, you will marvel at the wonderful architecture of the temple. The temple compound is beautifully landscaped and is divided into separate sections for Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesh, and Goddess Devi. Special worships are conducted on Tuesdays for Lord Ganesh.
