The ashram has a praying ritual before starting the surfing lessons every day. The place charges INR 2200 per day per person.

5. Visiting the Mangaladevi Temple

The Mangaladevi Temple is a very important shrine in the city and people visit the deity on every important location. The temple is decked up during the Dussehra festival and the beauty of the temple is magnified. It is said that the temple was built in the 9th century and unmarried women came here to pray for a good match. It is said they were never disappointed.

6. Visit the Butterfly Park

The Sammilan Shetty Butterfly Park is a major attraction of the city and should not be missed. Because the park is privately maintained, this is one of the cleanest places that you might have ever visited. There are over 11 species of butterflies and they are all clearly marked. The visitors also gain valuable knowledge about them and it also proves to be immensely educative for the children. The butterflies are taken care of by experts.

7. Sultan Battery

This is a mini fortress in the city built by the great Tipu Sultan in the 1784 and visiting this fortress is a very historically enriching place. It is made of black stones, which is why it is quite interesting to see it. The architecture is as interesting and so is the construction. The Sultan had made this fort for protecting the Gurupura River from the British men who often tried to access this region. It still represents a major heritage of Mangalore.

This garden was built in the 18th century and was built under Haider Ali. This is one of the most tranquil places in the city and hence attracts a lot of people. 9. Pray at Kudroli Gokarnath Temple

This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and has a heavy footfall of devotees almost every day. The temple was constructed in 1912 and still happens to be a major attraction of the city. Anyone can visit this temple, irrespective of caste or creed. The temple has a unique style and it is a wonderful sight to behold when the entire temple complex is lit up for the festivities, especially during Navaratri. Devotees come from far and wide to have Prasad from the temple.

This church, one of the oldest in the city, is very notable because of its Roman Catholic architecture. It has a very calm and tranquil ambience and you must come here to pray and light a candle. 11. Visit the Museum

To understand it better, you must visit the Bejai Museum, which is also very uniquely constructed- in the shape of a boat.
