Probably one of the rarest treks in not only this region but also in the entire country, this trek route is barely accessed by even the most experienced trekkers. The trek route travels through deep forests and the quaint Gadsari village and finally ends at the beautiful Saru Lake which is at a height of 11,865 ft. It takes almost an entire day to complete the trek which is extremely picturesque and challenging and you will get to see several streams and trees. The view of the Bandarpoonch range is a must on every trekker’s bucket list.

2. Janglik – Chandarnahan Trek

In order to explore this marvellously beautiful and satisfying trek to the Chandarnahan trek you have to travel to Janglik village and then start the daunting journey through lush dense forests of rhododendron, pine and oak trees, sparkling rivers and streams. The lake is located at almost 4000m height and is always covered in snow which makes for a delightful sight. It is also considered holy and thus a dip into the water is a compulsory experience.

3. Rupin Pass

This magnificent trek follows the banks of the Rupin Rivers and thus takes you on a journey through beautiful villages, lakes, green forests, high mountain peaks and cliffs and even vast expanse of snowy lands. This challenging trek starts from Dhaula and is met by a majestic waterfall divided into three stages. In order to reach the final destination at 4619m, you have to walk through rocks, boulders and snow which is very adventurous.

4. Rohru- Buran Ghati Pass

This trek is quite pleasant and is very rewarding because of the impeccable views of apple orchards, small pretty villages and sparkling rivers that you will get to explore on the way. The trek starts at Rohru and ends at the snow-capped Buran Ghati Pass at around 4578m which offers a delightful view of the entire valley which is quite an unforgettable experience.

5. Kharapathar – Giri Ganga

Since you cannot explore these places by road during torrential monsoons, trekking is the best possible way to not only enjoy the views but also feel the adventure. It starts from Himachal Tourism Hotel located at Kharapathar and ends at Rohru. Spanning almost 6 kms, this trek covers lush green meadows, farms, orchards, thick dense forests of pine and oak and is one of the most planned trek trails in this area. The trek ends at the Giri Ganga Temple and you will be able to experience the majestic view of the Chandernahan mountain ranges.

Best Ways to Enjoy the Treks

Pabbar Valley has managed to escape the clutches of urbanization and thus you can still enjoy and explore the old world charm of village life and feel the simplicity and beauty of nature. The best way to access this area is through Shimla. Apart from the treks you can also explore other interesting areas like Hatkoti, Jubbal, Rohru, Dodital Lake, Kotkhai, Narkanda and more which are quite close to Pabbar Valley and thus make for great getaways.

It is best to avoid the monsoon seasons if you are not a seasoned trekker as the wet grounds and slopes might be dangerous for you. Otherwise you can explore the treks at any time throughout the year as they have their own unique qualities that will give you a special vibe every time.
