Travel Trends To Look Out For In 2019!

Travelling is an enlightening experience, that is personal to every person. For someone, it can serve the purpose of finding themselves again while for someone else, it can be a much-needed break from a tiring life.

Nowadays, with traveling holding such an important place in every person’s to-do list, different people travel with various moods and expectations. Some of these ways have become so popular, that they are now motivating more people to join the journey of exploration.

Here, is a list of some travel trends that topped the list in 2019 and gave many people #travelgoals.

Travel Trends Today:

1. Pick Experiences Over Locations

When you are traveling to different nooks and corners of the world, beauty sure does lie in the eyes of the beholder. Be it the hill ranges of Kasauli or the beautiful backwaters of Kerala, the beaches of Goa or the warm culture of the Northeast- no one place can be compared to another for its beauty.

When you are traveling, think about the things you would want to do. Go paragliding over the mountain ranges, have a blast on a sailing trip, get the best shopping experience ever, spend the night at the palace, relive your Bollywood fantasies or get your adrenaline pumping- it is the experience that counts, the location follows as an obvious choice.

This allows you to have your best moments while on a trip, have an organized itinerary and various means of making the vacation, the most memorable one ever.

2. Eco-friendly Tourism

With the growing understanding of sustainable development and the important need of the hour, that is to create a world that is safer and cleaner to live in- a new group of travelers who identify themselves as ‘Eco-Friendly Tourists’ has come into the picture.

People are gradually understanding the repercussions that tourism without any responsibility, can have on the environment. Research published in the journal, Nature Climate Change, suggests that travel accounts for one-tenth of the world’s carbon emissions, with the airline industry leading the list of offenders.

Thankfully, eco-friendly tourism allows tourists to stay self-aware of their actions on their trips, and make conscious efforts to reduce these carbon imprints. This also involves making attempts to contribute to a place’s culture and traditions rather than deteriorating them. Many people believe in these ideologies, and say that they would personally want to contribute to a place’s environment by engaging in various activities like cleaning, plastic removal, etc.

3. Vacations in Off-beat Locations

What’s the fun of traveling, when you have everything planned?

That goes for many people who travel to feed their curiosity and hunger for experiences, in recent times.

All of us have an inner Christopher Columbus and want to challenge our limits through traveling. Recently, many people choose to travel just so they can step out of their comfort zone and learn something new about themselves every day.

Rather than going to the usual touristy places, they choose other hidden gems that give their inner adventure junkies a push and helps them step out of their personal space and discover new dimensions. Be it enchanting themselves with the charm of Northeast in Mawlynnong, or witnessing the Mini-Switzerland of India when they visit Khajjiar in Himachal Pradesh- they seek a haven away from touristy towns and hotspots. While some may plan a trip to a particular place, others also choose to wander with no particular destination in mind- putting their free spirits to test.

4. Solo Travelling

Sick of all the last-moment cancelled plans?

What can be better company than yourself, on a trip to a new place?

This time when your friends ditch you on the next trip, you can always pack your bags and begin a journey of wandering alone- meeting different people and creating loads of friends on the way.

Solo travelling is certainly the raging trend in recent times. Not only does it allow you to get to know yourselves. You get to make all the decisions and not compromise for anyone else. What solo travelling does amongst other things is, instil in you a sense of self-confidence. You begin to enjoy your own company. Being alone on the road  is also a great way to connect with yourself on a spiritual level and push your boundaries. What happens on the trip, is solely witnessed by you, after all.

5. B-Leisure Trips

Too busy to schedule that long vacation because of business back home?

You can always mix the two. B-leisure trips serve the best purpose at combining business with leisure trips. Need a break, but just can’t begin to find one in between all the hassle? Learn to cut yourself slack in between work and grab an opportunity of a leisure trip whenever you can.

B-Leisure trips save you the hassle of making separate bookings, packing preparations, extra expenditure and saves your time as well, making your vacation just the right amount of B-leisurely,

6. Learning Through Travelling

“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”

– Saint Augustine

Learning about the world. Learning about yourself. Learning about different cultures and traditions. Learning about art.

When you travel, you obviously do so with the purpose to seek pleasure. But, for some people, that falls second to another priority- travelling in an attempt to seen and gain knowledge.

Be it in front of Mona Lisa’s painting in the Louvre Museum or standing beneath the staircase in Anne Frank’s House in Germany- the sense of gratification these people get through the process of learning cannot be defined in words.

You might train with professional jiujitsu practitioners in Brazil or try out your hand at cooking in Thailand; live independently for a month in New York or busk in the streets of Amsterdam- what is the point of travelling if you don’t learn something?

So, this was our list of some travel trends to look out for in 2019! Planning a trip next summer, do choose your pick or even better, become the trend-setter!
