Dolpo is situated in the heart of Nepal. This ancient mountain mass is divided into two – the Upper Dolpo and the Lower Dolpo. Amidst narrow crescent ridges which swirl around the mountains give a heavenly tinge to the view. Lhasa Valley, the erstwhile residence of Dalai Lama boasts of the majestic Potala Palace and Norbulingka where you can meet the locals and share their experiences. The Lhasa valley is also home to the Tibetan Buddhism as it originated around here. The 12 day trek also goes to Samye and Yarlung. Samye is said to a thousand years old and is the oldest monastery of Tibet.
Yarlung was the place where Songstan Gompa unified the roof of the world according to legends. Since it happened around 1400 years ago this place became the cradle of the Tibetan culture.
