There were a number of skirmishes that took place during the First War of Independence (Indian Uprising). In fact, the well situated in the garden was poisoned during the uprising. One can also take a tour of Gandhi Hall. This Gothic structure was built in 1904 and was originally know as King Edward’s Hall. There are a number of beautiful statutes one can catch a glimpse of during their stay in the hotel. The statues of Sardar Patel, Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore and Nehru are all works of art.
