Phalodi is a town in Jodhpur district in the state of Rajasthan, a state that once was the stronghold of Rajputs who fought many valiant battles against assault and invasion of foreign powers. If pitted against the class and fame of Jodhpur Phalodi will sound utterly nondescript and featureless. Phalodi is known as “salt city” and this town holds the unbroken record of being the hottest place in India. The moniker “salt city” has its root in the salt industries in the town. You should now visit Jaswant Thada near the fort which is a cenotaph built-in memory of the rulers. Umaid Bhawan palace is another opulent hotel in the town.
